If you buy a Sonata in Columbia, called the i40 there, it doesn't look like it comes with navigation, though I can't tell for sure from their website. If you buy it in the United States, the navigation system probably can't be upgraded to Columbia maps. You don't say where you will be buying your Sonata. Mapnsoft is a separate company and provides the software and maps for Hyundai and Kia cars sold in North America. Only a few specific Hyundai markets use the system that uses Naviextras maps. Naviextras is part of NNG which sells navigation software and maps that are used in many aftermarket systems as well as certain car manufacturer factory systems. Thanks for any pointers, since I'm pretty lost. Besides mapnsoft seems to be exclusive for the US and Canada and doesn't even provide the option to buy maps outside those countries.

But then why is it even asking for the make/model of the car and claiming to be "official" for Hyundai? Then other posts say to visit for "official" map updates from Hyundai. They DO have maps for Colombia, and under compatible devices it DOES say it supports the Sonata, BUT, it doesn't specify which year Sonata, and you have to pick the country the Sonata was sold in and only a handful of countries are listed (and nothing in North America), and at one place on the site it says it works only with AFTER MARKET navigation on Hyundai. I'm moving to Colombia in a couple weeks and was looking to buy the new 2015 Sonata, but nobody seems to know if the factory navigation system will work in South America, and I don't want to spend the money if it won't work.
